Microsorum Pteropus Coral

Microsorum pteropus ‘Coral’ features random leaf splits and is comparable to Java Fern Trident in appearance. Its color is primarily green, with new growth showing a lighter pink to orange hue. Like other variations, it is beginner friendly and tolerant of a wide range of aquarium conditions. Recently reclassified as Leptochilus pteropus, this plant is still widely known in the aquarium hobby as Microsorum pteropus. When placed in an established aquarium with stable parameters, CO2 injection, and a consistent nutrient source, this plant really thrives.

This easy-to-grow aquarium plant is a great choice for filling midground to background areas, especially in nano or smaller planted aquariums. Like other Java Ferns, it is epiphytic and can be attached directly to driftwood, rocks, or aquarium decor using thread or glue. Make sure to keep the rhizome above the substrate to prevent rot. Propagation is simple—just cut or separate sections of the rhizome and reattach as needed.
