Description: This is the most sought-after and rare variety of what are called ‘Fancy Pleco-s’. In fact it is one of the most famous catfish in the freshwater aquaria hobby in general, and is considered a ‘collectors’ item’. It originates from Rio Xingu in Brazil. Its max size (it is considered a dwarf species) and peaceful nature makes them a popular addition to small peaceful-community planted aquariums, but prior experience with fancy plecos is recommended. Good (oxygen-rich) water flow and driftwood are a must, while a pebbly substrate and rocky hiding places are highly recommended (to recreate the bottom of a flowing river). It is more carnivores than it is herbivorous, so be sure to feed a mix of foods. It is a nocturnal feeder, so feed as late as you can. Do not mix with other plecos.
