As a survivor of sexual and domestic abuse, the author discloses how control and power are the common denominators of abusive relationships. Her life story embraces the narrative of her soul from a retrospective view which reveals the insight she had at her core being. As abuse matures, humiliation, insufficiency, dependency and embarrassment played a role in her pacification. A cycle that eventually taught her that her voice did not matter. When we decide to speak up, we disarm the untold truths about the cause and effect of domestic violence, and deflate the shame attached to it.
