Thamanyah is a brand founded by designer Ahmed Abdelrahman, who wanted to create a kandora (traditional Middle Eastern men's clothing) that could be worn while traveling outside of his hometown of Dubai. Its sophisticated design caught the eye of Michele Lamy, Rick Owens' partner, and the first Thamanyah collection was presented in Paris in 2011. Currently offering a unisex line, the brand takes its name from the Arabic word for "8," respecting Middle Eastern culture, spirituality, and historical significance while integrating Middle Eastern fashion into the international fashion world. The challenging yet sophisticated designs are supported by an uncompromising attitude towards craftsmanship and fabric quality.
