A charming set of six vintage trios by Cartwright & Edwards, dating to around 1929 according to Godden’s Encyclopaedia of British Pottery & Porcelain Marks. Each trio comprises a teacup, saucer and side plate. The design is hand-painted with delicate blue floral sprigs and finished with a fine cobalt edging, a lovely example of the craftsmanship of the period. The bone china is light and translucent, with the typical Cartwright & Edwards fluted body and shaped rims. This is an elegant and highly decorative set, perfect for vintage afternoon teas or for collectors of interwar English bone china.
