Spider Wood

Spider Wood is one of the more popular elements that can be added to your aquascape. These pieces add a ton of character and interest for the aquarium inhabitants and provide an amazing place to glue down mosses or some plants.

Preparing your Spider Wood:

We recommend you place the new piece in an appropriately sized pot full of water and boil it to remove bacteria or any types of contaminates that might be on it. This is a natural product so you never know. Boiling the wood will not only remove contaminates but it will also help to begin the water logging process to help it sink.

Spider Wood is very light and will float. We recommend you attach the wood to a piece of slate or weigh it down with rocks. You can also glue the pieces directly to the glass using epoxy or super glue.

OH NO!! I put my Spider Wood in the tank and after a few days it has this clear/white slimy stuff growing on it, what do I do?!?! First of all don't panic. This is completely natural and is of no danger whatsoever to the health of your aquarium or its inhabitants. The answer to "What do I do about this" is...... well...... nothing. I know it looks scary but trust me, it'll go away in just a few days and will never come back. Plus certain fish, snails and even shrimp LOVE this stuff and will eat it like it's candy.
