Maker - The Schumann porcelain factory was founded in 1881 by Christian Schumann and Franz Reiss in Arzberg, Bavaria. Dresden, being the capital of Saxony, was home to several ceramic decorating studios which arose in the 19th century. Romanticism was a burgeoning trend and Dresden, as an important cultural center, was right at the heart of this porcelain romance.

Description - A gorgeous reticulated and gilded compote bowl from Dresden, Germany. Hand painted flowers and golden lace are decorated with gold overlay and bright florals in a pallet of beautiful colors. This bowl is from the Chateau Dresden line and can be used for a myriad of purposes. The standard and bowl are each marked with the red Schumann - Germany - Chateau mark, used during the 1950's.

Dimensions - The compote measures 7 1/2 across and stands 5 1/2 in height.

Condition - No cracks, chips or repairs; near mint.
