Acca sellowiana 'Ramsey'
Ramsey is a great early-blooming and early-ripening variety that can even produce fruit here in the PNW! While it sports the beautiful and sweet cotton-candy-like flowers of most guavas, the larger size of Ramsey fruits make it the envy of other cultivars. Pineapple guavas, aka feijoa, can vary significantly in their flavor profiles, making them an amazing plant that can fit any taste! This rare plant has developed something of a cult following of enthused collectors eager to get their hands on the latest varieties.
Hardy to around 10 degrees F, Ramsey is self-fertile and early-ripening, making it well-suited for temperate climates with shorter growing seasons, as well as for hotter regions, where it can introduce the harvest season several weeks early. In cooler climates, mature height will be limited to 1/2 - 1/3 of what it will attain in warmer regions. This variety is grafted to an A. sellowiana seedling.
