Probability Theory and Stochastic Processes: An Introduction

This book has been designed as a text for undergraduate students in Mathematics and Statistics. It is also suitable for non-mathematicians as far as concepts, theorems, and methods of application are concerned.The book gives a systematic introduction to Probability Theory and Stochastic Processes and has attempted to move away from the Measure and Integration theory approach even though students should have some background knowledge in calculus, algebra and differential equations. It presents an outline of possible applications of these theories, accompanied by descriptive concrete examples.The exposition is indeed very pedagogic and each chapter is independent of the others although there are many cross references which tend to unify the topics at hand.Professor Joseph A. L. Kamara is a Full Professor of Statistics at the Fourah Bay College of the University of Sierra Leone. He is the Head of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics and the former Statistician General of Sierra Leone.Professor Nicholas N. N. Nsowah-Nuamah is a Full Professor of Statistics at the University of Ghana.
