This is a Large Ming-Style Sideboard Cabinet, Model No. 4616, designed by Edward Wormley for Dunbar in the 1950s. The sideboard consists of three separate units, and each unit is fully finished on its sides. The facade is done in a hand-rubbed Ribbon Mahogany veneer. The handmade brass hardware was imported to the US from China in the 1950s, according to Dunbar archives. There are adjustable interior shelves that provide ample storage.
The pieces were most recently purchased via WYETH through the Pierce Allen interiors firm in 2004. The original purchase price was $17,280, and the original receipt will be included in the sale.
The three units measure 20 inches deep, 105.75 inches wide (when pushed together), and 34 inches high. Each individual unit measures 38 inches wide. The mahogany veneer is in good shape, with some light fading to the finish and a few small areas of wear at the corners. The brass hardware has developed a handsome patina.
