Senneh is the old name of the modern city of Sanandaj. The carpets originating from the city and from nomads or farmers in the surrounding region are known as Senneh rugs. These double-sided kilims are woven in the traditional slit-weave technique. They often feature small patterns with designs such as bouquets of roses and tree or floral motifs arranged in rows. Traditional Mahi motifs may also appear, as well as large central fields, often with a rhombus in varying colors.
