Senneh is the old name of the modern city of Sanandaj. The rugs originating from the city and from nomads or farmers in the surrounding region are known as Senneh rugs. These double-sided kilims are crafted using the traditional slit-weave technique. They often feature fine small-scale patterns with designs such as rose bouquets and rows of tree or floral motifs. Traditional Mahi motifs can also appear, as well as a large central field, often decorated with a rhombus in varying colors.
