Small in size and serious in capability, the Mandra is a bushcraft knife designed to carry all day and reach for constantly.
Developed in collaboration with Les Stroud of Survivorman fame, the Mandra is the third knife to come out of a partnership between Stroud and Helle that spans more than a decade. This one was shaped during a 2014 filming expedition in the Romanian Alps, tested through real wilderness living before it ever reached production. That kind of field development shows in the details. The 69mm triple laminated stainless steel blade arrives razor sharp and handles fine carving, food prep, and trail tasks with the kind of precision a short blade excels at. The laminated construction gives the edge excellent retention while keeping the steel stainless and low maintenance in wet conditions.
What sets the Mandra apart for a small knife is how well the curly birch handle actually fits the hand. For medium to large hands, a three finger grip seats naturally and securely, which gives you real control for detailed work. Full tang construction means there's no weak point between blade and handle when you're pushing the knife through tougher material. A leather sheath with belt loop and leather lanyard round out the package for backcountry carry.
The name Mandra means "proud" in Romanian, a nod to the knife's origins and the adventure that shaped it.
