Exped Typhoon

Waterproof, lightweight, tough and comfortable, Typhoon is one of our most versatile packs. Its an excellent choice for wet activities or climates, compact enough to travel with, and durable and comfortable enough to be used as a mountain pack.

The pack bag is built with durable, 210-denier robic HD ripstop nylon carbonate that has been polyurethane coated, acting as the first barrier against water and wear. On the inside, a factory seam-taped liner is suspended from the packs top edge, providing a second, waterproof barrier to water and dust. In keeping with the weatherproof nature of Typhoon, it is closed via a roll-top with quick-release buckles, making it waterproof for all but submersion (no roll-top closure can create a seal against submersion pressure).

On the outside of the pack bag, two daisy chains accommodate the attachment of a variety of gear. At the bottom of each of these is an ice axe loop that tucks into a slot on the mesh side pockets, maintaining a sleek profile when not in use. Low on each side are two stretch-mesh pockets that will hold anything from water bottles and wet jackets to folded trekking poles and cameras.

Centered low on the outer bag is an integrated loop for a bike light (did we mention the 15 liter size is an excellent biking pack, no matter the weather?). Note that there are no zippered access points or pockets on Typhoon; they have been purposely eliminated to maintain unfailing weatherproofing.

Typhoons suspension system combines an internal foam back panel for stability and load control with an articulated, airy spacer mesh facing the body. The mesh is comfortable next to the back, manages moisture and dries quickly. Anatomically curved foam shoulder straps are lined with stretch polyester for body-contact comfort and quick drying. An easily adjustable sternum strap and a stout haul loop round out the suspension.

Typhoon 15 is an excellent choice for light-and-tight loads or for smaller individuals while the 25-liter size takes longer, more gear-intensive days in stride.
