Eriocaulon Feather Duster

Eriocaulon sp. “Feather Duster” is a rare, easy-to-grow Eriocaulon species with fine, grass-like leaves that are perfect for the background of a planted aquarium. Similar to popular choices like Vallisneria nana, Eleocharis vivipara, and Cyperus helferi, Feather Duster provides flowing texture with clean, controlled growth that’s easier to maintain.

Despite the picky reputation of the genus, Feather Duster is surprisingly undemanding. Its clumping growth makes it easy to divide and propagate, and moderate lighting is usually sufficient. Stable water quality is key—Feather Duster prefers softer waters, and nutrients can be supplied either through the substrate or with a quality aquatic plant fertilizer.

For stronger, faster growth, increase light levels and plant it in a tank with CO2 injection. It can easily reach the water’s surface, where you can let it swoop naturally or trim as needed, since it responds well to cutting.
