This is a set of vintage Anchor Hocking Ruby Bubble water glasses. These were produced from 1934 to 1965.
These glasses feature rounded bubbles in a very orderly pattern. This specific pattern and color was made using Anchor Hocking's patented ruby glass formula. This formula was based on copper oxide, differentiating it from traditional ruby glass that used expensive gold to achieve its color. Introduced in 1938, this formula allowed for the mass production of a deep, evenly colored red glass that was more affordable than its gold-based predecessors.
These glasses are in excellent vintage condition, particularly given their age. One of them is slightly darker than the other three, but that is common. There are no chips or egregious scratches or cloudiness.
These glasses have a very short foot and are slightly tapered. They measure 4 1/2” tall and 2 5/8” wide at the mouth.
The vintage Anchor Hocking logo they used during this era, is stamped on the bottom of these glasses.
