This is a set of four DKX chairs, originally designed by Ray and Charles Eames in 1951. These particular examples were produced by Herman Miller in the USA C. 1954. The chairs are comprised of a steel wire seat with foam that are upholstered in black naugahyde atop a steel X-base. DKX is an acronym for Dining Height K-Wire Chair on X-Base. The listed price includes all four chairs sold as a set.
Each chair measures 19 inches deep, 15 inches wide, and 32.5 inches high with a seat height of 18.5 inches. The foam is hard and coming out from the chair that has a tear to the naugahyde. Very nice early and original set from the home of the original owner. The set retains original Venice labels and has horsehair backing as well. Overall, they are in good to very good condition with expected wear from use. Please see photos.
