Cryptocoryne Balansae is a unique species! It is known for its long, narrow leaves with a slightly crinkled texture. Its bold green coloration and taller grass-like growth makes it a great choice when you want to add height and movement to the background of a planted aquarium.
Over time, it can grow quite large and tall, so its better suited for the midground to background of larger aquariums. As it settles in, it can develop dense groups that add flowing movement and coverage for tropical fish and shrimp. Like most Cryptocoryne, it doesn't like being moved once planted. Allow it to establish a healthy root system before attempting to propagate or reposition! Once established, it is easy to care for and will grow steadily in most conditions.
High light and CO2 are not required to grow this aquarium plant, but Cryptocoryne are heavy root feeders, so we recommend using a nutrient-dense aquarium soil or providing it with targeted nutrients via root tabs. CO2, whenever possible, is always beneficial for aquarium plants!
