Originally known as Koralovyi Marka, Coral Blaze ™ Cornelian cherry is a product of the Ukranian Cornus mas breeding program. As a result it produces larger and sweeter fruit than average; flavorful fruits that are bright red when fully ripe. Coral Blaze ™ is excellent for fresh eating, jams, and preserves, or you can make it into a traditional beverage like Dirndlbrand - Cornelian cherry brandy! A fantastic fruit for cold zone gardeners and growers looking to expand their bloom window - the showy yellow haze of tiny flowers is usually the first thing to bloom in the orchard, starting in February!
Harvest at maturity ranges from 20 to 30 pounds per bush/tree, and fruit drops when completely ripe. No known pest issues. Grows best in rich, well-drained soil, but tolerate poor soil as long as it is well-drained.
