Cassini Gyre I

Derived from an original sketch by the artist, "Cassini Gyre I" evokes the quiet motion of celestial bodies and the layered rings of distant planets. The fluid, orbit-like line has been translated from drawing into cold-rolled steel, preserving the immediacy of the artist’s hand while introducing the weight and permanence of metal. Its open circular form and sweeping interior lines create a sense of contained movement, recalling the shifting structure of Saturn’s rings.

Each sculpture is carefully fabricated from steel and finished through an oxidation process that produces a deep black patina. This finish both protects the surface from rust and preserves the natural character and texture of the metal. A protective clear coat is then applied, sealing the surface while maintaining its subtle tonal variations. Signed on the reverse.

Installation is straightforward, as the sculpture mounts directly to the wall using metal dowels through seven discreet drill holes, allowing the piece to float slightly off the surface.
