Blueberry Snail (Viviparus sp.)

The Blueberry Snail is a rare and fascinating, newly discovered snail. They are a type of live-bearing snail, they only have 2-3 babies every 3 weeks or so. They are not a hermaphroditic species (meaning you need a male and female to breed), so they will not overpopulate your aquarium.

These snails are peaceful and good for community tanks with other peaceful fish and invertebrates. Very slow moving and always hungry.

Appearance- Brown/dark orangish, spiral bonelike  shell that grows a little over 1". The body is dark blue with almost flurescent orange gold speckles in the face.

Blueberry snails thrive in well planted tanks with plenty of hiding spots and soft substrate. They like a sandy substrate and stem plants. Indian Almond Leaves, Catappa Bark, and Alder Cones can enrich the aquarium environment for these amazing little snails. These botanicals release beneficial tannins and humic substances, creating a more natural environment. They also provide hiding places and grazing areas. I recommend purchasing Fritz Nature Box when adding your new friend to the cart.

Average purchase size- .25"- .75", Most blueberry snails are wild caught and this is why they are hard to find. Some snails may have shell defects from their wild life encounters. Adult size- 1-2 inches

Tank Size- 10 gallon

Temp- 73-84

PH 7.4-8.5

Lifespan- around 3 years

Origin- Papua, Indonesia

Diet- Spirulina flakes, algae wafers, decaying plant leaves, and detritus. They also enjoy algae growing on aquarium surfaces and biofilm.
