Bidjar carpets originate from the city of the same name in western Iran. The city is mainly inhabited by Kurds, who can look back on a long tradition of carpet weaving in this region. Bijar carpets are known for being particularly robust and dirt-repellent. Because the carpets are extremely tightly knotted, the pile stands vertically upwards, so that dirt particles have little chance of penetrating the pile. This guarantees the Bijar a long lifespan.
