Lettuce dreaded meeting him, but Vince had a soft side, took her under his protection and gave her the benefit of his experience. He led her through the gardens to see her first dog. It was supposed to be a vicious guard dog for a man who hated cats, but it was terrified of Vince due to what Vince referred to as his REPUTATION.
