Description: Bartlett Anthias are colorful, active fish that would make the perfect addition to any larger reef aquarium. This fish originates from the Western Pacific Ocean. Female Bartlett Anthias are pastel pink with a thick yellow stripe running from mouth to tail along the dorsal fin. Male Bartlett Anthias are much more vibrant in color, with a hot pink body and bright yellow dorsal and caudal fins. They also develop a vibrant violet color on the dorsal spine and along the top of the head. These fish usually occur in harems, comprised of one dominant male and a large group of females, and they are also hermaphroditic. They all start as females at birth, and the largest, most dominant individual will turn male. If the dominant male perishes, the largest, dominant female will take his place. It is best to add a group of females to an aquarium and let the most dominant female transition into a male. This fish requires plenty of swimming room and ample rockwork to live comfortably. To account for anthias' high metabolism, it is important to feed them high-quality, fatty foods two to three times a day.
