Much of the best skiing, regardless of where you live, is found in steep and deep couloirs. These features are too steep and narrow to skin (you're ruin all the good snow with countless skin tracks) and boot-packing results in sad sad wallowing, sucking the energy that should be conserved for skiing. This is where the Ascent Plates from Billy Goat Technologies really shine. These lightweight plates are made from Teflon-impregnated anodized aluminum for lightweight durability and minimize clumping. They fit a wide range of boot/crampon combos. Recommend pairing with the XLC 390 Crampon as shown in the photo.
