Advanced Bushcraft Course – Master Long-Term Outdoor Skills

Take your outdoor readiness to the next level with the Advanced Bushcraft Course! This four-day, three-night immersive experience is designed for students who have completed the Basic Bushcraft Course and are eager to deepen their knowledge and skills.

Led by our expert instructors, you’ll tackle advanced challenges and refine your critical thinking, tool-making, and outdoor preparedness. This course emphasizes living minimally while learning to maximize the resources available in nature, helping you achieve a balance of sustainability and comfort.

Course Description

Learn to do more with less. The Advanced Bushcraft Course focuses on utilizing your gear and the natural environment to enhance camp life. You’ll develop critical skills for tool repair, creation, and maintenance, and explore techniques to remain stress-free during outdoor adventures. This course emphasizes living minimally while thriving optimally, equipping you for long-term sustainability in the wild.

What You’ll Learn

This course combines hands-on fieldwork and in-depth instruction to master advanced bushcraft techniques:

• Understanding Long-Term Sustainability: Build skills to live comfortably for extended periods.
• Kit Development: Assemble and optimize gear for long-term living.
• Building Pack Frames: Craft efficient and durable carrying solutions.
• Glues and Binding Agents: Learn to make and use natural adhesives.
• Advanced Tarp Shelters: Create versatile, weather-resistant shelters.
• Saw Techniques: Nomenclature, use, and crafting saws in the field.
• Carving, Binding, and Weaving: Make practical and decorative items from natural materials.
• Candle Making: Craft light sources using natural and available resources.
• Axe Repair in the Field: Maintain and repair your axe to ensure functionality.
• Leatherwork: Create and repair leather items for outdoor use.

Required Kit

Participants must bring the following items to the course.

Primary Gear (This gear must be carried with you throughout the entire course)

• Fixed Blade Knife (similar to the Coalcracker 2.0)
• 16” to 24” Forest Axe
• Bowsaw Blade (dry wood preferred)
• 100' Bankline
• 100' Paracord
• 25' of 1" Nylon Webbing
  
• 1 lb Gulf Wax
  
• Flint and Steel Firemaking Kit
• Extra Flint Stones
• 2 Tin Containers
• Small Glass Jar
• Hemp Twine
• Crafting Needles
• S Needle
• Headlamp with Spare Batteries
• Notepad and Pencil/Pen
• Haversack

Secondary Gear (Items you need to have available, but don’t need to carry with you daily)

• Oilcloth Tarp
• Wool Blankets for Sleeping
• Sleeping Pad and/or Gum Blanket

• Start Time: 9:00 AM
• Location: Ringtown, Pennsylvania
• Course Focus: Expand your knowledge of natural resources and outdoor sustainability.
• On-Site Amenities:
  • PortaJohn bathrooms available.
  • Students will have access to their vehicles during class.
  • Freshwater is available; we recommend bringing 1–2 additional gallons.
• Meals: Students are responsible for their own meals. We recommend packing nonperishable foods and snacks for convenience during breaks.
• Accommodations: Students will remain on school grounds and sleep in tarp shelters built during training.

Age Requirements

• Recommended Age: 16 years and older
• Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a paying adult.
• Minors under 16 with outdoor experience are welcome, but parents should evaluate their readiness based on the physical and mental demands of the course.

Prerequisites:

Completion of the Basic Bushcraft Course is required.
