"Valentine's Love" is a story about Laura, a 23-year-old nurse in the deep South, who is married to Todd, a fireman, and is eight months pregnant. Laura loves helping people and continues to work at the hospital despite her pregnancy. The story introduces Jonyea, a 16-year-old high school student who is pregnant after being sexually assaulted by her mother's boyfriend, Esau. Jonyea faces the difficult decision of what to do about her pregnancy and the abuse she has suffered<br>Todd buys Laura gifts and they have an ultrasound where they confirm they are having a boy. Laura helps Jonyea and learns about the abuse. Esau is arrested. Jonyea decides to have an abortion and move to Atlanta to live with her Aunt Loki. Her mother, Destiny, reacts poorly to the news.
